The focus of this project is to explore architectural issues of Milstein Hall at Cornell University. This physical model focuses on natural light and the relationship of intensity, pattern, and how it shapes the interior area. Therefore, it illustrates how light defines occupancy in the space. The emphasis was on where light enters to the space, which was through trusses and skylights. The acrylic shows the transparency of light through patterns.

CONCEPT MODEL

The concept model illustrates the sense of lightness of Milstein. It gives it the feeling as if it’s a "floating box" and this happens because of its connections to the two buildings next to it, Rand and Sibley. It also shows how occupancy is defining the space because of that aspect. The acrylic clear box is a representation of this idea.
